Box Score For 20 minutes, it looked like history might repeat itdrlf. Hamline's women's basketball team, which gave St. Thomas its first ever Anderson Center loss last year, trailed just 35-31 at intermission.
But the talented Tommies had too much in the second half and the Pipers eventually fell, 78-59.
Jordan Sammons had another big offensive night, scoring 28 points and
Chelsey Bonsante continued her excellent first season with 11.
The first half went back and forth. The Tommies' four-point margin at halftime was the largest lead either team had in the first 20 minutes.
In the second half, though, UST started with a 9-3 run that pushed the margin to double digits. HU worked it back to seven at 51-44 only to see the Tommies go on a 11-2 run that upped the margin to 16.
Hamline, playing its fifth game in 10 days, couldn't recover and fell to 5-14 on the season (4-12 MIAC).
The Piper get little rest, either. But they do get to play the next two games at home. St. Catherine visits Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. Bethel is the challenger Saturday, Feb. 8 at 1:00 p.m.
