Box Score Kevin Novakovich garnered Hamline's men's hockey team's only goal in a 2-1 loss at St. John's Thursday night. The Pipers fell to 3-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the competitive MIAC despite unloading 31 shots on goal.

The Johnnies led 1-0 into the third period when Chad Hennum found Novakovich for his second goal of the season at 5:56. The game went back and forth with the Johnnies gaining the game winner with 30 seconds left in the third period. 

Justin Quale recorded 32 saves -- 17 in the second period alone -- for Hamline.  Brandon Zurn led the Pipers' 31 shot attack with five. Kerry McGlynn had four.

The teams meet again Saturday at Oscar Johnson. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
