Fourth Quarter Surge Does In Womens BB

1/23/2016 5:20:00 PM

Box Score For 30 minutes, all went well for the Hamline women's basketball team Saturday afternoon. On a day where they inducted their first woman ever -- Debbie Van Schooten -- into the prestigious Row of Honor, the Pipers fought their way around foul trouble and held a 47-40 lead over visiting St. Catherine.

But the Wildcats shot their way to a 31-10 fourth quarter edge and took a 71-57 decision away from HU at Hutton Arena. Chloe Graves hit three three-pointers and a team high 18 points for the Pipers. She added six assists to move into fourth place all-time in HU history. Emily Behrman (pictured with ball) added 13 points -- her second best output of the season. SCU, however, utilized a bid edge at the free throw line, connecting on 24 of 34 tries compared to the Pipers' six for 10 day and that was a main reason in the final score.

Hamline, now 3-14 overall, outshot the Wildcats, going 40.4 per cent from the field (23-57). They were close in rebounds, too, garnering 38 to SCU's 40. (Chelsey Bonsante led with eight and Alex Peterson added seven). Graves also had three steals.

Hamline remains at Hutton Wednesday, January 27 when they will host St. Benedict. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
