Box Score On Saturday, it was Brandon Zurn's to grab the spotlight. The senior winger had two goals and an assist in Hamline's 5-3 loss at St. Mary's Saturday night in Winona. Zurn now has 108 points for his career, passing assistant coach Joe Long and moving into sixth place all-time in school history.
It was a game that saw HU fall behind 2-0 before Mitch Hall connected early in the second period on the power play. Zurn then tied the game midway in the period but the Cardinals scored the next two goals for a 4-2 lead. Zurn then nailed his second of the night at 13:13 of the third period to make it 4-3 but that was as close as the Pipers would get. SMU found the empty net and clinched the decision to drop Hamline to 8-9-4 overall, 3-6-1 in the MIAC.
Zurn took over the lead in Division III hockey in points with 38. Linemate Charlie Adams had one point (an assist) is second with 36.
HU will face Bethel Friday, January 29 at Oscar Johnson Arena. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
