Box Score Brandon Reinholz has something to be truly thankful about this holiday season. The junior took passes from
Garrett Schmitz and
Tommy Hall and buried a shot at 2:00 of overtime to lift the HU men's hockey team past Wisconsin-Superior, 4-3, at Oscar Johnson Arena Tuesday night. Hamline is now 6-1-2 overall in what is believed to be the best start in school history.
Mitch Hall scored twice and
Brandon Wahlin added a solo for Hamline, which earned its second win over the Yellowjackets in a 10-day span.
John Sellie-Hanson batted away 31 shots in goal to earn the win.
Wahlin converted a
Russ Jordan pass to give HU a 1-0 first period lead.
Mitch Hall took advantage of a four-on-four situation to make it 2-0 in the second frame. UWS replied in kind to make it a one-goal affair starting the last period.
It went back and forth from there. The Yellowjackets tied the game in the third period only to see
Mitch Hall untie it at 11:35. UWS refused to giove in and tied the game at 3 to fo0rce the extra session. Reinholz then decided the matter to start holiday celebrating early.
The Pipers are now idle until December 2 when they face St. Thomas at Oscar Johnson Arena. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
