Box Score Darby Dodds took over the MIAC lead in goals with nine but the HU women's hockey team surrendered a goal in the final minute of overtime and lost to Wis-Eau Claire, 3-2, at Oscar Johnson Arena.
Annie Juergens was again superb, frustrating the Blugolds with a career high 39 saves. as HU dropped to 6-4-0 overall on the season.
As was the case when the teams played in Eau Claire last month (HU won that one in OT), it was a tight, taut game early. The Blugolds managed the only goal of the first two periods with Juergens recording 23 saves and the Blugolds' Erin Conolly coming up with 16. WEC went ahead three minutes later and the score stayed at 2-1 until Dodds took
Brede Postier's pass and evened matters a second time at 10:39. Dodds, who is also tied for the league lead in points with 13, had eight shots on goal and
Bre Simon added six in the game.
HU had a golden opportunity with a power play in OT but Conolly held firm in goal. The Blugolds then worked in the winner with 54 seconds left in the extra session.
It is Hamline's last game until January 6 when they face Marian in the first round of a tournament in St. Cloud. The Pipers play Wis-Stevens Point the next day.
