Graves Guns In 18 For WBB

Chloe Graves played her nine 40+ minute game of the season Wednesday against St. Mary's at Hutton Arena with admirable results. The tireless junior guard scored 18 points in Hamline's 64-48 loss to the Cardinals. Tia Diggins, making the most of her first start of the season, chipped in with 10 for Hamline. 

The Pipers had a rocky start, trailing 23-12 at the end of the first quarter. They stiffened on defense in the second period, chopping the margin to eight at 31-23 by halftime. SMU, which trails first place St. Thomas by just one game in the MIAC standings, fought back to up the margin to 49-36 after three and kept the Pipers at arm's length the rest of the night. 

Alex Peterson and Haley Greene were excellent on the boards with six rebounds each. Emily Behrman was the top assist maker with three. 

Hamline is now 3-22, 1-16 in the MIAC. They finish the season Saturday against Bethel at Hutton Arena in the nightcap of a men's-women's doubleheader. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
