But 5-6 Emily Behrman and 6-0 Alex Peterson (pictured with ball) looked equally huge on the boards Wednesday night for the Hamline women's basketball team. The pair snared eight rebounds each in the Pipers' 62-42 loss to Augsburg at Si Melby Hall.
HU battled the Auggies on even terms on the boards with each team finishing with 39. The home team, however, grabbed a 14-9 first quarter lead and extended it to 30-20 by halftime. HU surged within six in the third quarter, which ended with Hamline trailing 43-35. Chloe Graves, who led Hamline with 10 points, nailed a three-pointer to get even closer at 47-42 with 6:54 left in the game. Augsburg responded by scoring the last 15 points of the game as Hamline fell to 3-17 overall, 1-12 in the MIAC. Chelsey Bonsante added nine points and now needs just 10 to reach 1,000 for her career.Â
Hamline returns to action Saturday when the host St. Thomas in the second game of a men's-women's doubleheader at Hutton Arena. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
