Box Score The Hamline women's basketball team had a cold snap Saturday at Macalester. The Pipers shot just 33.8 per cent from the field and that was too much to overcome as the Scots jumped to a 21-point halftime lead and held on for an 83-68 victory at Leonard Center.
Alaina Quaranta was one Piper with the hot hand, hitting six of 11 field goal tries for a team high 17 points. She also had five steals and six rebounds.
Chloe Graves added 15 points and
Tia Diggins (10) recorded 11.
Reilly Geistfeld narrowly missed a double-double when she snagged 10 rebounds to go with her nine points of offense.
The Scots, who are now 9-6 overall (3-5 MIAC), jumped on the Pipers at the start, taking a 32-18 lead after a quarter, stretching it to 56-35 at halftime. HU rallied in the second half, outscoring Mac by 33-27. The Pipers had one of their best days of the season at the free throw line (14-18) but went 23-68 from the field.
Hamline (5-10 overall, 2-6 MIAC) continues on the road next week, playing at St. Benedict on Wednesday, January 18 (7:00 p.m.) and at Bethel on Saturday, January 21 (1:00 p.m.).
