Graves Has Big Night For WBB Against Augsburg

1/25/2017 9:09:00 PM

Box Score Chloe Graves unleashed a season high 28 points and also led the team in rebounds with seven for Hamline in a lively 83-71 women's basketball loss to Augsburg Wednesday night at Hutton Arena. The 5-6 senior guard came up just four points shy of her career high with her 20+ point effort of the year. Kaeli Stayer added 14 points (including four three-pointers) -- two short of her career high and Alaina Quaranta added 10 for HU, which shot a credible 43.3 per cent field, connecting on 11 three-pointers.

But the Auggies used a 32-19 second period outburst to take a 45-35 halftime and the closest Hamline could get the rest of the way was four points.

It was a battle between two teams that each had eight first year players on their rosters. HU led 16-13 after a quarter only to see the Auggies jump to the halftime lead.  The visitors expanded the margin to 67-53 after three quarters and appeared in control. However, Hamline scored the first 10 points of the fourth quarter in a span of 2:44 to make it 67-63. Augsburg came back with nine unanswered points to sew up the verdict.

Graves continued to move up the school's all-time statistical ladder with her big game. Graves is already the all-time leader in career assists with 335. She is now fifth in three pointers made (136), nine in career points (1,081) and 10th in career field goals (264).

Hamline is 5-13 overall, 2-9 in the MIAC. They face Carleton (612, 4-7 MIAC) Saturday at Hutton Arena. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
