It was a tight game until the final minutes. HU grabbed an early 5-1 lead and led 13-10 after a quarter. The Pipers kept the Eagles at bay in the second quarter as well, taking a 17-16 advantage into the locker room. The Eagles scored the first eight points of the third quarter for a seven point lead. Wampler, a freshman, led a comeback that tied the game at 27 but a late three-pointer put UNW up 30-27 after three.
The Eagles started the fourth frame on a 6-0 lead and held HU off the rest of the way.
The Pipers get back in action Saturday at North Central (0-1) in downtown Minneapolis. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
