Box Score In the final warmup for the MIAC season,
Alaina Quaranta showed she's ready to repeat last year's efforts. The junior led the Pipers in scoring last year with a 12.1 ppg average. Quaranta had averaged just three points a game in the first three games of the year. The Eau Claire, Wis. native showed she still has the touch as she exploded for 21 markers Tuesday in a 78-58 non-conference loss at Wis-Superior.
Quaranta connected on nine of 17 shots from the field, including three three-pointers.
Reilly Geistfeld added nine points and
Jaelin Jones contributed eight for HU.
Morgen Coleman led the board battle with six rebounds and
Molly Wampler added four assists for HU. The Pipers started strong, taking a 16-10 lead after a quarter. UWS rallied with a strong second quarter to take a 35-27 intermission edge and pulled away in the second half to improve to 3-2 overall.
HU will take a 1-3 record into its MIAC (and home) opener Saturday against St. Thomas at Hutton Arena. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
