Hathaway Stands Out For W Hockey at Gustavus

Box Score Jaime Hathaway kicked out 34 shots but her teammates were stymied offensively in a 3-0 women's hockey loss at Gustavus Adolphus Friday. The Pipers had 15 shots on goal -- seven of which came off the stick of Darby Dodds -- but were unable to dent the twine. 

The Gusties, who hold a one point lead Augsburg in the battle for first place in the MIAC, grabbed a 2-0 lead on goals less than three minutes apart in the first period and added a shorthanded goal in the third period. 

Hamline, now 12-11-1 overall, is 10-7 in the MIAC and is now tied for fourth place with St. Thomas, which skated to a 1-1 tie tonight at St. Olaf. Both teams have 20 points. Concordia, which lost to Bethel Friday, 5-2, has 22 points and is in third place. The Pipers cannot advance to third because CC has the tiebreaker. HU tie with UST  for fourth place, the Pipers hold the tie breaker because of more conference wins. In thew case of a three-way tie, HU would be the fifth seed. The fourth place team hosts the fifth place team in the opener of the MIAC playoffs on Thursday, February 23. 

The Pipers will look to even the series against the Gusties Saturday at Oscar Johnson Arena. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
