Box Score As the saying goes, all good things eventually come to an end. For the Hamline women's hockey team, that meant a frustrating 4-3 loss to Bethel Friday night in Blaine. The top line of
Bre Simon,
Darby Dodds and
Sarah Bobrowski were their usual efficient selves, accounting for all three goals. Simon scored twice and Dodds had the other tally with Bobrowski drawing assists on all three tallies.
Bobrowski leads the MIAC in points with 35 with Dodds and Simon close behind at 34.
The Pipers remain in first place in the MIAC with 17 points on a 8-2-1 conference mark (13-3-2 overall).
The game was scoreless for nearly 33 minutes. Simon broke the deadlock with her league leading 19th goal of the year but the Royals responded with a pair of netters two minutes apart for a 2-1 lead.
Simon struck again 1:03 into the third only to see Bethel go back ahead six and a half minutes later. That goal -- No. 20 -- ties Sara Mickelson's mark for most goals in a season by a Piper woman puckster.
Dodds took Bobrowski's pass and tied the game at 13:22. It was the senior's league-leading 27th assist of the season.
Overtime looked imminent until Bethel's Wendy Roberts slipped home the game-winner with just 21 seconds left in regulation time.
Annie Juergens had 22 saves in goal for the Pipers.
The teams have a rematch on Saturday, January 27 at TRIA rink. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
