Box Score Hamline rattled off 45 rebounds but Augsburg shot 52 percent from the field in the second half and rallied past the Pipers for a 72-62 women's basketball decision Wednesday night at Hutton Arena.
Alaina Quaranta continued to excel offensively with 19 points (11 of which came in the first quarter) for the Pipers, who fell to 2-10 overall, 1-4 in the MIAC.
The Pipers again started fast, jumping to an 18-9 edge after the first 10 minutes of play. The Pipers held off a second period surge and led the Auggies (7-4 overall, 3-2 MIAC), 35-30 at halftime. Augsburg then went ahead, 51-48, after three periods and pulled away late.
In addition to Quaranta,
Kaeli Stayer fired in 11 markers and
Reilly Geistfeld chipped in with eight. More importantly, Geistfeld collected a game high 10 rebounds with Quaranta delivering eight and
Aly Sartain five. Geistfeld added a season (and game) high four.
