Wampler Adds to MIAC Leading Free Throw Totals

Box Score In half a season, Hamline freshman women's basketballer Molly Wampler has become the premier Free Throw shooter in the league. Wampler's expertise was on display Saturday when she canned six of seven shots in the Pipers' 63-58 loss at Macalester. For the season, Wampler is 40-for-43, a sterling 93 percent average. 

Alaina Quaranta scored 19 points, Wampler 15 and Reilly Geistfeld 12 for Hamline, which is 2-11 overall (1-5 MIAC). Quaranta and Geistfeld also were tough on the boards with seven and six rebounds respectively. Quaranta also had a game high three steals.

The Pipers started strong, leading 21-19 after a quarter. The Scots pulled ahead, 34-20 at halftime but HU responded in the third quarter and led, 48-46, after three. The Scots outscored the Pipers, 17-10, in the final 10 minutes to earn the win. 

Hamline heads to Northfield next Wednesday, January 10 to take on Carleton. Game time is 7:00 p.m. They are back at Hutton on January 13 against St. Catherine.
