The puck stopped with Hamline women's hockey goalie McKenna Hulslander last Tuesday -- and the MIAC took notice. The sophomore stopped all 25 sent her way in the Pipers' 3-0 win over the Yellowjackets for her first shutout of the season. The league has named her the Women's Hockey Athlete of the Week for her efforts. She is the second Piper to be so feted. Bre Simon was honored in November.

Hulslander was sharp early against UWS, stopping all 13 shots sent her way as HU grabbed a 2-0 lead. After a lighter second frame, the 'Jackets attacked hard in the third with Hulslander batting away 10 more shots for a 25-save blanking. It continued a surge that has seen Hulslander allow just nine goals in her last seven games to lower her goals-against average to 1.69.

Hullander and the Pipers (8-1 overall) play their final 2018 game Monday, December 10 against Wis-Eau Claire at TRIA Rink. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
