Wampler, Kennedy Have Career Highs in Rebounds For WBB

2/7/2018 8:55:00 PM

Box Score We knew all along that Molly Wampler can sink free throws with the best of them. Wednesday night at Hutton Arena, the women's basketball freshman showed she can rebound as well. The freshman snagged a team (and career) high eight rebounds for the Pipers in a 72-43 loss to Bethel. Wampler had company on the boards. Violet Kennedy (30), also a freshman, grabbed six rebounds to match her career high as well.

Unfortunately for the Pipers, they ran into a playoff bound BU team that hit nine three-pointers and came up with 17 steals to frustrate Hamline, which fell to 4-18 overall, 3-12 in MIAC games.

Reilly Geistfeld was the top gunner on the floor with nine points. Morgen Coleman and Kaeli Stayer added eight apiece. Alaina Quaranta had three steals to lead the Pipers, who had 10 for the game. Stayer and Quaranta also had three assists apiece.

The Royals jumped to an early lead and expanded it to 38-15 by halftime. HU shot a little better in the second half, playing Bethel relatively even in the third quarter (19-18).

Hamline plays at St. Catherine Saturday, February 10. The Pipers won the initial encounter, 64-57, at Hutton January 13.  Game time is 3:00 p.m.
