The Streak lives on.
The HU women's hockey team stretched their undefeated streak to 13Â games in a row with a 4-4 OT tie against Bethel in Blaine Saturday. The No. 7 ranked Pipers unleashed 58 shots at the Bethel goal but needed a pair of third period tallies to improve to 15-1-3 overall, 9-1-2 in MIAC games. They held their ground in second place, two points out of first place.Â
Leah Schwartzman continued her hot scoring ways, giving the Pipers a 1-0 lead 13:10 into the game. It stayed that way until the second period when the Royals scored three times in less than seven minutes to grab a two goal advantage.
Bre Simon, the leading scorer in all of D-III women's hockey, got one back for Hamline at 17:21 of that period only to see BU strikes back a minute later for a 4-2 edge after two.Â
Madison Kolbow finished off a three-way play with
Katie Carlson and
Jordan Hansen at 2:36 to get Hamline within a goal and
Rae Robert supplied the equalizer with an unassisted power play tally at 10:28. The Pipers put considerable pressure on but BU goalie Mallory Tidona recorded 54 saves (16 in the third period) to earn the Royals a point.Â
Jaela O'Brien started in goal and gave way to
McKenna Hulslander midway in the second period for Hamline.Â
The Pipers have a pair of home games on the docket for next weekend. Concordia (9-7-3, 6-3-3 MIAC) comes to TRIA Rink for games on Friday, February 1 (7:00 p.m.) and Saturday, February 2 (2:00 p.m.)
