Women's BB Falls In Defensive Struggle With Gusties

The HU women's basketball team ran into a defensive blanket Thursday and dropped a 56-38 decision to Gustavus Adolphus at Hutton Arena. Reilly Geistfeld recorded her third double-double in a row with 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Pipers, who stand 11-9 overall, 6-7 in the MIAC. HU is in seventh place in the loop, a game behind St. Benedict for the last playoff spot. 

The Gusties grabbed a 15-7 first quarter lead and extended it to 27-18 at the half. HU chopped the lead to six at 31-25 midway nin the third quarter but the Gusties responded with eight unanswered points to keep the Pipers at bay. Morgen Coleman and Kaeli Stayer added six points each for the Pipers, who outrebounded the visitors by a 36-34 margin. 

Hamline finishes off a four game home stand Saturday, February 2 against St. Thomas. game time at Hutton Arena is 7:00 p.m.
