NAPLES, Fla. - The Hamline women's basketball team (7-3, 2-3 MIAC) have now won their last three games, getting a 67-50 win over Alma (6-6) on Monday afternoon at the Community School of Naples.

HU put up a good defensive effort, allowing Alma to shoot only 28.8% from the field in the contest, the lowest percentage of an opponent so far this season. The 50 points allowed was also the second lowest allowed by the Pipers this year.

Eleven different players scored in the win for the Pipers, being led by senior
Reilly Geistfeld, who put up 18 points and a career-high 18 rebounds for her fourth double-double so far this season. The St. James native also had five steals, three assists, and two blocks to round out an impressive performance.

The Pipers had a solid first half, outscoring the Scots 35-19. Geistfeld led all scorers in the half with 12 points, knocking down over half of her shots (4-7).

Halfway through the first quarter HU went on a 7-0 run to put themselves up by six, at 14-8. The Scots answered with the first six points of the second quarter to lead 15-14 with 7:34 left in the half. From there, though, the Pipers held the Scots to four points for the rest of the half, going on a 21-4 point run to end the first 20 minutes. This allowed them to take a 35-19 lead into the break.

Hamline picked up right where they left off in the second half, scoring nine points to Alma's one in the first three minutes. The Pipers were able to keep that momentum going, not allowing the Scots to get closer than 17 points for the rest of the game.

The Pipers held a significant advantage in rebounding (49-38), scoring 14 points off of second chances. HU also forced 15 turnovers, which they converted into 19 points. The team also posted their best free-throw percentage of the season, making 16 of 21 for a 76.2 percentage.

HU will continue with MIAC play later this week, traveling to St. Kate's for a 3:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, January 4.
