Box Score The HU women's hockey team jumped on St. Thomas for a 2-0 lead but the Tommies rallied and took advantage of a late power play to score a 3-2 decision Friday night at St. Thomas Ice Arena. The result ended the school record 17 game unbeaten streak and meant that the Pipers will finish in second place in the conference.
After a scoreless first period,
Bre Simon, the leading scorer in D-III women's hockey with 55 points, converted a
Leah Schwartzman pass for a power play goal 10:06 into the second period. three and a half minutes later,
Dani Perry blew a shot home (also on a power play) and the Pipers had a 2-0 lead.
UST scored on a power play 8:35 into the third period. The Tommies tied the game at 12:13 and won it on a goal with 42 seconds left in the game.
Hamline, ranked No. 4 in the country, is 19-2-3 overall, 13-2-2 in MIAC play.
The team will have a rematch on Saturday, February 16 at TRIA Rink in downtown St. Paul. The Pipers will honor their seniors in a special ceremony after the game.
