Brown Earns Third All-American Honor With Record Performance

5/25/2019 11:58:00 AM

Gabrielle Browen made her last race in a Hamline uniform one for the books -- the record books.

The senior bested her time from the day before in the 100 Hurdles at the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track/Field meet in Geneva, Ohio Saturday. The St. Paul, Minn. native earned her third All-American honor with a 14.06 clocking that placed her fifth in the country among sprinters in the race. It was an .02 improvement from her qualifying time the day before. Fifth place is also one better than her 2018 standing which saw her finish the race in 14.361 seconds.

In addition to her two outdoor AA Honors, the Johnson High School alum also earned one for an eighth place finish in the 60 Hurdles at the NCAA DIII Indoor Championships earlier this year. (She also set the school record in this event earlier this year with a 8.76 performance.)

Brown is the fifth female trackster to earn AA Honors for her running efforts. Jana Anderson claimed one in 1985 (1,500 Hurdles). Betsy Hansen won three in 1990-91, including a national championship in the 800 Meters. Teresa Olsen won one in 2001, also for 1,500 Meters and Keidra Anderson won five in 2005-06 for her efforts in the 5,000 and 10,000 Meter events. Nine women (including current teammate Jessie Juenemann) have earned AA Honors for efforts in field events.
