MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. - It was a big win for the Hamline women's hockey team (16-3-4, 12-1-3 MIAC) as they came back from a three-goal deficit to defeat St. Thomas (12-7-4, 11-4-1 MIAC) 5-4 on the road. The win earns them two more points in the MIAC standings, keeping them within one point of #5 Gustavus who leads the league with 28 points.

It was a tale of two periods to start the game, as the Tommies scored three unanswered goals in the first period, and the Pipers retaliated with three goals of their own in the second period to tie the game up 3-3 heading into the third.

HU scored their three goals within the span of eight minutes, as sophomore
Molly Garin got it going with a goal less than three minutes into the period. Senior
Bre Simon followed Garin's lead, scoring two minutes later on a power play.

The offense kept that momentum going, scoring their third goal of the period at 7:24 as Garin scored again, this time taking advantage of another power play.

Garin and Simon continue to pace the league in scoring, as Garin has 34 points on the year and Simon has 32.

In the third, it was the Tommies who would score first, using a power play to take over the lead at 5:04. The Pipers would answer right back, as senior
Dani Wright scored her first goal of the season at 7:04 to tie it back up at four goals apiece.

About nine minutes later, first year
Madison Davis came up big with her ninth goal of the year to allow the Pipers to take their first lead of the game at 5-4 with four minutes left to play. HU held on from here, as junior
McKenna Hulslander made three saves in the final part of the game to secure the win.

With the win, Hulslander improved to 8-1-1 on the year, making 25 saves throughout the game. Â

The Pipers will conclude the regular season next weekend playing St. Catherine at home on Friday, February 21 at 5:00 p.m. and then heading to St. Kate's on Saturday, February 22 for a 2:00 p.m. game. The results of this series will play a factor in what seed HU will earn for the playoff tournament that will begin on February 27.
