MINNEAPOLIS, MINN.—The Hamline University women's hockey team made the short trek to Augsburg University for the back-end of a two-game swing on Saturday afternoon. The Pipers failed to register a lead in a contest that saw Augsburg secure a 5-3 victory, and a weekend split.
Hamline falls to 2-2, 1-1 MIAC, while Augsburg's first win of the 2021-22 season puts their record at 1-3, 1-1 MIAC.

Both teams traded a pair of goals within the opening two periods, as Augsburg set the tone with a 2-0 lead behind tallies from Kiley Wahlin at 10:21 of the first period, and Kennedy Stein at 1:15 of the second. Sophie Rausch had a hand in Hamline's first two goals as she assisted Nikki Olund's score at 4:45 of the second that narrowed the margin to 2-1, before she put a shot past Auggies goalie Chloe Stockinger at 11:01 of the second that knotted the game at 2-2.
Shots were nearly even in the third period, as Augsburg held a slight 6-5 edge. Cheyenne Abear capitalized on Hamline's 1-of-2 power play opportunities in the third period, but it was Augsburg that put home three goals, one of which being shorthanded that locked them a 5-3 victory.
Augsburg outshot Hamline 26-20. Goalie Ava Bailey stopped 21 shots in net for Hamline, while Stockinger tallied 17 saves for the Auggies.
Hamline will host St. Catherine at TRIA Rink on Friday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m.
