RESULTS
ST. PETER, MINN.—The Hamline University swimming & diving teams returned to action following a month away from competition on Saturday, when they competed at the Gustavus Adolphus College Grace Goblirsch Invite. The women registered fourth place out of seven teams with 207 points, while the men took fourth out of four teams with 134 points. Gustavus claimed the women's (1641.5) and men's (1537) team titles.
The Pipers got off to a hot start in the 3-meter dive as Courtney Broyles captured a first-place score of 213.90. Broyles kept that momentum alive in the 1-meter dive, as she took second place with a 221.60.
The first-place trend continued courtesy of Sila Yurttas, as she claimed gold in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:05.41. Yurttas took seventh in the 100-yard butterfly with a 1:07.96, and ninth place in the 50-yard freestyle with a 26.93.
Sarah Wood continued the first-place wave for Hamline in the 200-yard breaststroke as she tallied a 2:38.58, while Bennett Nigro trailed her in fourth place with a 2:43.43. Wood was dominate in the 100-yard breaststroke as she crossed the finish line at 1:12.22, good enough for third place.
Bennett Nigro tallied an eighth-place time of 1:10.31 in the 100-yard backstroke.
George Hubbard dominated for the Pipers men, who claimed third in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:47.57. He kept the third-place trend alive in the 100-yard freestyle after crossing the finish line at 49.26. Hubbard followed that with a fourth-place time of 22.74 in the 50-yard freestyle.
Quinn Doan captured a fifth-place time of 1:04.12 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Nathan Steeves took ninth place in the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:32.72.
The Pipers will return to action at the Macalester College Roger Ahlman Invite on Friday, December 3 - Saturday, December 4.
