RESULTS
SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University swimming & diving teams embarked on day two of the Macalester Roger Ahlman Invitational on Saturday. The women finished the two-day meet in fourth place out of six teams with 419 points, while the men claimed fourth place out of four teams with 243 points. Macalester notched the women (995), and men (776) team titles.
Sarah Wood was victorious in the 100 yard breaststroke with a first-place time of 1:09.93, and another championship time in the 200 yard breaststroke as she crossed the finish line at 2:35.91. Sila Yurttas was on Wood's heels in the 100 yard breaststroke as she notched second place with a 1:14.96, while Bennett Nigro trailed Woods in the 200 yard breaststroke in fourth place with a 2:49.40. Courtney Broyles kept the gold medals coming for Hamline as she registered the top score in the 3-meter dive with a 392.30. Broyles followed that with second place in the 1-meter dive with 371.65 points.
The 100 yard butterfly was all Yurttas, who claimed fourth place with a time of 1:05.92.
Quinn Doan commanded the men with a first-place time of 4:28.14 in the 400 yard individual medley, followed by second place in the 100 yard breaststroke with a 1:02.82. Doan registered fourth in the 100 yard freestyle with a 51.05.
George Hubbard kept the gold medal train going in the 200 yard freestyle as he crossed the finish line at 1:43.57, and also finished atop the 100 yard backstroke field with a 53.20, and in the 500 yard freestyle with a 4:46.79.
The Pipers will compete at the St. John's Invite on Saturday, January 8 at 1:00 p.m.
