Hamline falls to Gustavus 3-2

ST. PETER, Minn. - The Hamline women's hockey team (4-2, 1-2 MIAC) scored twice in the third period, but fell to Gustavus (4-1, 3-0 MIAC) 3-2 on Saturday night in St. Peter.

Gustavus scored first in the game, taking a 1-0 lead a little over six minutes into the game. They would add another tally in the second, taking a 2-0 lead into the third period.

In the third, Hamline's offense got going, as senior Jordan Hansen scored early to cut the deficit in half with 17 minutes still to play. Hansen was assisted by junior Molly Garin and senior Taylor Curtis. This was Hansen's first goal of the season and Curtis' first assist. Garin now has five assists on the year and is tied for the most points in the MIAC with seven.

The Gusties would answer with a goal of their own, however, scoring at 12:27 to stretch their lead to two again at 3-1.

Senior Olivia Arkell would put Hamline back within one less than 30 seconds later, taking a pass from Hansen and finding the back of the net to make it 3-2.

The Pipers were unable to score again in the period, though, leaving the final at 3-2.

Sophomore Ava Bailey made 33 saves in net on the night, which is the second time this season that she has surpassed the 30-save mark.

The Pipers will look to bounce back on Tuesday, March 2 when they welcome Augsburg to TRIA Rink for a 7:00 p.m. game. The Auggies are 0-4-1 on the season so far, with a 0-1-1 record in MIAC play.
