ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Hamline men's track and field team hosted four other teams to Klas Track on Saturday afternoon, winning four events and tallying 12 finishes within the top three at the Kent Stahly Invite.

Junior
Christian Velishek had one of those wins for the Pipers, taking first in the high jump with a mark of 2.00 meters. That is an outdoor season-best for Velishek and ranks tied for second in the MIAC. First year
Michael Braun placed third in the event (1.90 meters) and senior
Jarick Rieffer placed fourth (1.85 meters).

In the shot put, senior
Joe Martin continued his event winning streak, beating out a competitor from Saint Mary's to win the event with a mark of 17.20 meters. This ranks first in the MIAC and currently ranks first in the country, without all of the Saturday results in yet. The distance also places Martin third on HU's all-time list.

In his debut in the javelin, first year Sam Dabrowski won the event with a distance of 43.15 meters. First year
Carter Kienholz placed second with a mark of 38.91 meters.

Senior
Fernando Benitez had the final event win for Hamline, finishing the 1500-meter race in 4:05.40, which ranks in the top five in the MIAC. Junior
Aric Brodie placed second in the event with a time of 4:17.17. First years
Jeremy Davie and
Rune Lee-Kolhoff also raced in the 1500, taking fourth (4:30.50) and sixth (4:46.79), respectively.

In the 100-meter race, the Pipers had three competitors finish in the top five, all within 0.06 seconds of each other. First year
Bobby Moua placed third with a time of 11.34. He was followed closely by sophomore
Josh Peterson (11.37) in fourth and first year
Tae'Vion Wilkins (11.40) in fifth.

In the 110-meter hurdles, junior
Zach Angstman placed second, finishing in 16.12. Teammate
McKail Hertzog was not far behind, taking fourth with a time of 16.94. Also recording second-place finishes for the Pipers was first year
Josh Lynch in the pole vault and Braun in the long jump. In the pole vault, Lynch hit a new career-best at 4.25 meters. Braun also tallied a new personal best, with a distance of 6.59 meters. Junior
Thomas Amberg was fourth in the latter event, with a mark of 6.22 meters.

Peterson, who had raced in the 100, also placed fourth out of 20 competitors in the 200-meter race, finishing in 22.90. Wilkins finished in seventh (23.63) and Amberg placed eighth (23.73) in that same event.

In the 400-meter run, senior
Matt Lorah placed fourth with a time of 53.55. Kienholz and first year
Raul Ortiz were also in the top eight, finishing sixth (53.93) and eighth (54.48), respectively.

In the discus, first years
Connor Prok and
Elliot Lee finished within the top six, as Prok came in fifth with a mark of 35.90 meters and Lee came in sixth with a distance of 33.28 meters.

The relay team of Braun, Peterson, Velishek, and Wilkins recorded a second-place finish for HU in the 4x100, finishing in 43.33.

The Pipers will compete again at home next week in the Hamline Showcase, set to take place on April 23 and April 24.
