Hamline wins five events at Macalester

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Hamline men's track and field team competed at the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational on Saturday at Macalester, getting five different event wins throughout the meet.
 
In the 100-meter dash, it was first year Tae'Vion Wilkins who earned the win, crossing the line in 11.54. First year Michael Latham took fourth in the same event with a time of 11.80 and junior Zach Angstman took fifth with a time of 11.93.
 
Angstman tallied a win for HU in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing in 16.12. Latham also raced in the 200-meter run, finishing fifth (23.81), while teammate Bobby Moua finished ninth (25.70) and Josh Yeates finished 10th (26.02).
 
Moua and Wilkins joined Josh Peterson and junior Christian Velishek in the 4x100 race, all contributing to Hamline's fastest time in that event this season, finishing in 42.93 to finish ahead of the two other teams racing.
 
Velishek had an individual event win as well, placing first in the high jump with a mark of 1.98 meters. Michael Braun took third in that event with a height of 1.83 meters and senior Jarick Rieffer took fourth with a height of 1.73 meters. Sam Dabrowski rounded out the group with a fifth-place finish (1.63 meters).
 
Hamline's final event win came in the pole vault, as first year Josh Lynch reached a height of 3.85 meters.
 
In the 800-meter run, junior Aric Brodie finished second of 12 competitors with a time of 1:59.12. Three Pipers raced in the 400-meter run, with senior Matt Lorah recording the best finish, taking fifth with a time of 53.54.
 
First year Connor Prok represented HU in the discus, placing fourth with a distance of 32.21 meters.
 
The Pipers will compete at Minnesota State, Mankato next weekend in their final tune-up before the MIAC Championships that will take place on May 14-15 at Klas Field.
