ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Hamline men's track team finished the first day of the MIAC Championships and will compete again tomorrow, in the meet finale that starts at 12:00 p.m. at Klas Field. On day one, the Pipers had two student-athletes score and one qualify for the finals.

Both of HU's scorers came from the high jump, where junior
Christian Velishek placed third with a height of 1.96 meters and first year
Michael Braun placed eighth at 1.86 meters. Senior
Jarick Rieffer was close behind with a height of 1.81 meters, for a ninth-place finish.

Braun also competed in the long jump, finishing 13
th out of 20 with a distance of 6.28 meters. Junior
Thomas Amberg also competed in this event, finishing 15
th with a distance of 6.22 meters, which tied his career best.

Junior
Aric Brodie was the lone Piper to qualify for the final races tomorrow, with a 12
th-place finish in the 1500-meter run. He crossed the finish line in 4:02.07, a new career-best.

In the 100-meter dash, first years
Bobby Moua and
Tae'Vion Wilkins represented Hamline, as Wilkins finished 20
th (11.75) and Moua finished 21
st (11.79). They would join teammate
Josh Peterson in the 200-meter dash, where Peterson placed 15
th (23.35), Wilkins placed 19
th (23.57), and Moua placed 26
th (24.27).

Zach Angstman and senior
McKail Hertzog each ran in the 110-meter hurdles, with Angstman taking 13
th (16.25) and McKail taking 19
th (17.47).

In the 400-meter run, both first years
Carter Kienholz and
Raul Ortiz tallied career-best times, as Kienholz finished in 53.50 (19
th) and Ortiz finished in 53.72 (22
nd). Junior
Tyler Gallagher ran in the 800-meter race, finishing in 18
th with a time of 2:01.47.

Dylan Rioux took 19
th in the hammer throw with a distance of 39.57 meters and first year
Elliot Lee took 15
th in the discus with a mark of 36.70 meters.
