CHICAGO, Ill. - The Hamline University lacrosse team (8-5) made their fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, falling 20-2 at the University of Chicago (10-1) in the second round.

The Piper goals were scored by seniors
Maria Lewis and
Ashley Hessler, both of which were scored off free position shots in the first half. Hessler had the most shots for Hamline with four and senior
Maya Hernandez and sophomore
Michaela Arnold each had three. Arnold also led the Pipers in ground balls with three.

Senior
Alyssa Bryan-Jeffries had 16 saves in net for HU, ending the year with 134 total saves.

Chicago scored the first two goals of the game, leading 2-0 after the first seven minutes. Hessler answered with a goal for the Pipers with 21 minutes left in the half and Lewis added another one four minutes later to tie it up.

The Maroons took over the lead again about thirty seconds after Lewis' goal and would score eight more times before the half was over, leading 11-2 at the intermission.

Chicago carried their first-half momentum into the second frame, holding Hamline scoreless while scoring nine goals of their own on the way to the 20-2 victory.

The Pipers finish the year with an 8-5 record, and had a number of season highlights, including winning the regular season MWLC Championship and the MWLC Playoff Tournament, and advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
