Pipers Storm Back From 5-2 Deficit in 5-5 Tie With Gusties

SAINT PAUL. MINN—The Hamline University men's hockey team hosted Gustavus Adolphus in game two of their weekend series at TRIA Rink on Saturday, where both teams skated to a tie for the second-straight night with a 5-5 (OT) score. The Pipers dropped the shootout 1-0, and notch one point in the standings.

The Pipers exit Saturday with a 4-15-3, 1-9-1 MIAC mark, while Gustavus Adolphus sits at 5-13-4, 0-7-3 MIAC.

Hamline 5, Gustavus Adolphus 5 (OT)

The Pipers stormed back from a 5-2 third-period deficit behind goals from Andrew Erwin at 13:29, Tyler Nyman's second goal of the game at 14:07, and Erik Dahl at 18:47 that knotted things at 5-5.

Connor Clemons opened the shootout with a goal for the Gusties, which proved to be the only successful shot in the session to seal his team two points in the standings.

Carson Simon tallied Hamline's other goal at 13:19 of the second period that made the score 4-2.

Ike Taraszewski notched a pair of assists for Hamline, who outshot Gustavus 31-27. Kevin Lake stopped 22 shots in net for Hamline, while Justin Damon made 26 saves for the Gusties. Both teams combined for 14 penalties.

The Pipers will host UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday, February 16 at 4 p.m.
