Pipers Defeat Miami-Hamilton and Keuka

LEESBURG, FLA.—The Hamline University softball team converted their third sweep of spring break in Leesburg, Florida with a 9-1 (5 innings) win over Miami-Hamilton, and a 3-0 decision over Keuka on Sunday afternoon.

The sweep sends Hamline's record to 7-4 overall.

Hamline 9, Miami-Hamilton 1 (5 innings)

Dana Rosbacka went the distance on the pitching rubber for Hamline, as she allowed seven hits, one run (zero earned) and surrendered no walks. Every Piper in the starting lineup registered at least one hit, led by Kira Krueger's 3-for-4 outing that included three RBI and two runs scored. Raelyn Costley went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored, and one RBI. Amber Peterson was effective with a 2-for-2 performance for Hamline.

Both teams struggled defensively with a combined seven errors.

Hamline 3, Keuka 0

Theresa Klinnert allowed just three hits and struck out five batters in a complete-game shutout in the pitching circle. The Pipers offense provided her with a run in the second, third, and fifth innings.

Gabby Cook's walk, and Gabby Tuhy's single put them on first and second before they advanced one base on a passed ball. This paid dividends as Lydia Lecher knocked in Cook with a sacrifice fly to give Hamline a 1-0 lead in the second inning. The Pipers generated two-out magic in the third inning when Megan Rubbelke doubled, and scored when Kira Krueger reached on an error to widen the margin to 2-0.

Megan Rubbelke also doubled in the fifth inning, which sent home Amber Peterson (walk) to make the score 3-0.

Megan Rubbelke went 2-for-3 with two doubles, while Tuhy notched a 2-for-3 day.

The Pipers will close their spring trip in Clermont, Florida tomorrow, Monday, March 21 against Bates and Allegheny at 10:15 a.m. (ET) / 12:30 p.m. (ET).
