NORTHFIELD, MINN.—The Hamline University baseball team resumed a previously suspended MIAC contest, and embarked on a non-conference match at Carleton on Monday afternoon. The Pipers finished the suspended contest with a 12-4 victory, and continued that momentum with a 7-0 decision in game two.
The Pipers improve to 11-22, 4-12 MIAC, while the Knights fall to 9-18, 6-8 MIAC.

The Pipers didn't miss a beat from the first half of Friday's game, where they dug themselves out of a 4-0 deficit with a three-run fifth inning. Braeden Bourne and Colton Peters led off the frame with an infield single and walk, respectively. This set up Max Gerstner's RBI-double that scored Bourne to narrow Hamline's deficit to 4-1. Finn Melchior followed Mac Enlow's walk with a sacrifice fly that sent home Peters from third base to make the score 4-2, before Gerstner scored on a muffed throw thanks to a double steal attempt to get within Carleton at 4-3.
That momentum carried over into Monday, which began with a seven-run Hamline seventh inning that gave them enough breathing room in a 12-4 victory.
Max Gerstner and Mac Enlow each registered a pair of hits that included a double for the Pipers. Gerstner's stat line included three RBI, and a pair of runs scored. Hamline was hit by a pitch six times in the contest, two of which came from Tyler Johnson.
Ryan Conn, Jonah Smallfield, and Braden Schneider combined to give up six hits and four runs (three earned) on the pitching rubber. They collectively notched eight strikeouts.

Hamline pitchers Luke Schmaedeke, Finn Melchior, Dan Fredericks, and Spencer Klika combined to give up just one hit in the contest. Their support occurred with three runs in the fourth and sixth innings each, followed by one in the eighth.
Colton Peters led the Hamline offense with a 3-for-3 game, while Gerstner went 2-for-3.
Tyler Johnson drove-in the Pipers' first two runs of the game with a third-inning double, which highlighted his 1-for-4 outing. Mac Enlow, who reached base on a fielder's choice, later scored on a wild pitch to extend Hamline's lead to 3-0. The Pipers did damage with the bases loaded in the sixth inning, where Matt Rusch singled and later scored on Cullen Buck's bases-loaded single to widen things to 4-0. Logan Tollefson, who also singled, made the score 5-0 when he scored on a wild pitch from third base. Peters (walked) put an exclamation point on the sixth inning when he came home from third base on Gerstner's sacrifice fly to widen the margin to 6-0.Â
The Pipers loaded the bases in the eighth inning, which resulted in one run courtesy of Mac Enlow's infield single that scored Logan Tollefson, who reached on a hit by pitch, to make the score 7-0.
The Pipers will return to action tomorrow, Tuesday, May 3 at Macalester (DH) for a 2:30 p.m. start.
