SAINT PAUL, MINN - The Hamline University women's hockey team welcomed in UW-Superior to Tria Rink for a Friday-night non-conference game. The Pipers got out to a hot start in this one and kept it going throughout the game. Hamline won this contest 5-2Â over the Yellowjackets handing them their first loss on the season.Â

The Pipers got the scoring started early with a goal from
Cheyenne Abear at 18:57 of the first period making the score 1-0. Hamline capitalized with two power play goals tonight with one in the first period and another to open the second, both from
Emme Nelson assisted by
Haley Eder-Zdechlik making the score 3-0 with 18:34 remaining in the period.
Annika Lindgren had a highlight-reel goal at 2:47 in the second period to expand the score to 4-0. UW-Superior erased the shutout for Hamline's goalie
Olivia Rinzel in the third period with a goal by Jenna Hoops at 5:51 making the score 4-1. The Yellowjackets tacked on another score from Kaylin Garner with 48 seconds remaining in the game to shrink the deficit to 4-2. With 24 seconds remaining in the game
Ashley Grabau capped off the stellar night for the Pipers with one last goal making the final score 5-2.Â
