No. 24 Duhawks Take Care of Pipers

DUBUQUE, IOWA—The Hamline University women's basketball team paid a visit to No. 24 Loras for a non-conference bout on Friday evening. The nationally-ranked Duhawks ran away with an 84-54 victory over the Pipers.

This contest was added to the schedule shortly after Carleton announced the cancelation of their 2023-24 season.

Hamline falls to 5-3, while Loras improves to 6-2.

Loras 84, Hamline 54

For the second-straight contest, the opposition managed to convert over half their shots. The Duhawks, who led from start-to-finish, registered a .536 (30-of-56) field goal percentage that included a .500 (15-of-30) mark from the three-point line, along with 23 assists. Their 15 three-pointers were the most from an opposing team since January 18, 2012, when Gustavus converted 15-of-31 in a 83-82 OT loss to the Pipers.

Both teams were even in rebounding 31-31; but it was Loras's defense who accumulated 15 steals, four blocks, and held Hamline to a season-low .295 (18-of-61) shooting mark.

Lydia Lecher paced Hamline with 18 points, four steals, and six boards, while Michaela Stamer notched 12 points. Sophie Stork rounded out the double figure Pipers with 10 points. Hamline's starting five scored all but five points in the contest.

Four Duhawks finished in double figures, led by Madison Fleckenstein's 17 points. Daniella Jarrell came through with a game-high eight assists for Loras, who got playing time from 21 individuals.

The Pipers will return to action on Friday, December 29 in Daytona Beach, Florida, where they'll face No. 18 DeSales at 10 a.m. (ET).
