Pipers' Season Ends in MIAC Tournament Semifinal

MOORHEAD, MINN.—The No. 3 seed Hamline University women's basketball team made their second-straight appearance in the MIAC Tournament Semifinal on Friday night, when traveled to No. 2 seed Concordia (Minn.). The Cobbers defended their home court with a 74-67 decision over the Pipers.

Concordia will advance to the MIAC Tournament Championship Game at top-seed Gustavus Adolphus on Sunday with a 23-4 record, while Hamline's season ends with an 18-10 mark.

Concordia 74, Hamline 67

The game's opening stages belonged to Hamline, who led for a majority of the opening frame and grabbed their largest advantage at 10-5 off Kate Trachsel's three-pointer with 4:29 on the clock. That proved to be the Pipers' final bucket of the frame as Concordia responded with a 5-0 run off Molly Musland's three-pointer and Makayla Anderson's layup, which evened things at 10-10 through 10:00 of play.

Concordia took that momentum into the second quarter, where they shot 9-of-13 (.692) from the field and 4-of-5 (.800) from beyond the arch en route to a 38-29 halftime edge.

The Pipers couldn't muster a lead in the second half, but would cut their deficit to one point at 47-46 off Camille Cummings' layup with 2:33 left in the third.

Lydia Lecher led Hamline with 16 points, while Cummings came off the bench with 14 points. Nine different Pipers found the score column and pulled down at least one rebound. Both teams combined for 19 three-pointers, as 12 of them came from Concordia. Carlee Sieben registered five three-pointers en route to a game-high 18 points for the Cobbers

The Pipers bid farewell to seniors Chan'el Anderson-Manning, Iyanna Wieland, Tess Hauer, and Alyssa Williamson.
