SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University softball team welcomed St. Scholastica (DH) to Meredith Field for their 2023 home finale on Wednesday. The Pipers prevailed with a 7-0 win in game one, before they dropped a 6-3 decision in game two.
With the split, Hamline moves to 15-18-1, 9-11 MIAC, while St. Scholastica exits Wednesday with a 17-17, 7-11 MIAC mark. The Pipers, who currently sit in seventh place, are still in the hunt for the six-team 2023 MIAC Softball Tournament with two conference games left.
Hamline 7, St. Scholastica 0
Dana Rosbacka allowed just three hits in the complete-game pitching victory for Hamline. The Pipers offense provided Rosbacka with 13 hits from nine individuals.
Jenna Rubbelke, Elena Martinez, Josephine Cariveau, and Lydia Lecher each registered a pair of hits. Lecher added a pair of runs scored, an RBI, walk, and stolen base to her stat line while Martinez also tallied a double and a stolen base. Cariveau scored a pair of runs.
St. Scholastica 6, Hamline 3
Hamline took a 3-1 lead into the sixth inning, where St. Scholastica notched five unanswered runs en route to a 6-3 victory.
Eight different Pipers notched a hit, led by Gabby Cook's double. Savannah Johnson went 1-for-2 with a walk and RBI, while Cariveau and Gabby Tuhy each drove in a run.
Montana Miller notched five strikeouts over the first five innings before Rosbacka threw the final two for Hamline. They combined to give up 13 hits, six runs (five earned), and one walk.
The Pipers will conclude the regular season at St. Catherine (DH) on Friday, May 5 at 3:30 p.m.
