SAINT PAUL, MINN -- Senior Defense
Elizabeth Valley was named a finalist for the 2023-24 Laura Hurd Award, a prestigious award given annually to the best NCAA Division III women's ice hockey player in the country by the American Hockey Coaches Association.
Valley finished second on the team in scoring with seven goals and a team-leading 14 assists for 21 points. Her 21 blocked shots and 80 shots on goal this season ranked third most on the team. Her performance through the season earned her title of MIAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, and she joins just 14 other players from across Division III Hockey on the short list for the honor, which will be awarded on Thursday, March 16.
Valley is just the second Piper to be named a finalist, and joins the exclusive club with Forward Bre Simon, who won the award in 2019.Â
