Scots Run Away From Pipers

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University softball team fell to Macalester (DH) by scores of 10-5 and 2-0 at Meredith Field on Tuesday afternoon.

The Pipers fall to 10-10, 0-6 MIAC, while the Scots move to 15-6, 5-1.

Macalester 10, Hamline 5 (Game One)

A 6-0 lead through 2 1/2 innings was enough cushion for the Scots, who never surrendered the lead in a 10-5 victory.

Josephine Cariveau continued her stellar hitting with a 2-for-3 outing that included an RBI and one run scored, while Jenna Rubbelke and Abbey Herbert each finished 2-for-4 to round out the multi-hit Pipers. Rubbelke added two RBI, one run, and a stolen base to her stat line.

Both teams combined for 25 hits, 10 belonged to Hamline. The Scots got multi-hit games from five different individuals, led by Elizabeth Welch's 4-for-4 outing that consisted of a double.

Montana Miller and Natalee Boelk each saw action in the pitching circle for Hamline.

Macalester 2, Hamline 0 (Game Two)

Welch continued her strong hitting for the Scots in game two, as she gave Macalester a 1-0 lead with a first-inning RBI single that scored Alli Johnson. Renee Nicholson also scored on that play thanks to a Piper error, which widened the score to 2-0.

Rubbelke, Cariveau, Gabby Tuhy, and Mikenna Johnson each had a hit for the Pipers.

Hamline pitcher Gracie Bond allowed five hits and two runs in a complete-game effort.

The Pipers will host Concordia (Minn.) (DH) at Meredith Field on Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m.
