RIVER FALLS, Wis. — UW-River Falls (15-14, 1-5 WIAC) defeated Hamline (8-15, 3-7 MIAC) in straight sets with scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-15 at Don Page Arena on Wednesday night.
Hamline faced a challenging first set as UW-River Falls capitalized on multiple attack errors to secure a 25-17 win. The Falcons opened with a strong start, aided by Reese Bauman's blocking and Blessing Adebisi's three kills, creating an early lead. Despite efforts from
Grace Bathurst and
Britta Lund, UW-River Falls maintained control, closing out the set with a decisive kill from Adebisi.
UW-River Falls capitalized on a series of attack errors and service aces to secure a 25-17 victory in the second set against Hamline. The Pipers struggled with service errors early, allowing UW-River Falls to maintain momentum. Despite strong performances from
Campbell Sims and
Nora Cairns, who both recorded multiple kills, Hamline was unable to overcome a late 7-1 run by UW-River Falls.
UW-River Falls established early control in the third set, including two opening blocks by Reese Bauman that contributed to a 3-0 start. Adebisi was instrumental, delivering three kills and a service ace, extending UW-River Falls' advantage to 18-10. Hamline struggled with attack errors, which allowed UW-River Falls to close the set 25-15.
Kaitlyn Kotek posted a perfect hitting percentage with two kills on two attempts and added four assists in two games played.
Mandy Dierks anchored the defense with 15 digs over three games, providing stability in the back row.
Cameryn Sand facilitated the offense with 14 assists across three matches. Bathurst contributed six kills and recorded one block assist, finishing with 6.5 points.
The Pipers will conclude their season with a road match against Gustavus on Saturday, November 8 at 5 PM in St. Peter, Minn.
