Knights Blank Pipers

TOPEKA, KANSAS--On Saturday, the Hamline University baseball team fell to Martin Luther 5-0 in a neutral site game in Topeka, Kansas.

The Pipers fall to 1-3, while the Knights improve to 2-1.

Tyler Johnson led the Pipers' offensive efforts, securing one hit in four at-bats, which included a double. Bentley Casey also achieved one hit in three at-bats. On the mound, Alexander Hokenson pitched two innings, allowing one earned run on one hit, striking out one batter. Dalton Maxwell made a significant pitching appearance, covering five innings, striking out three but conceding three earned runs on eight hits. He threw a total of 63 pitches, 42 of which were strikes. Troy Spellman contributed one inning of relief, giving up no hits and no runs, while issuing one walk. He threw 11 pitches, with four being strikes, and faced four batters without allowing a run.

Carlos Walta, led the offensive charge with three hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs while scoring twice. Shortstop Parker Winghart made significant contributions both offensively and defensively, registering one hit and scoring once, while also leading the team with five assists in the field. Aidan Berg delivered an exceptional pitching performance, completing a nine-inning shutout. Berg allowed only two hits, struck out three batters, and walked two. Additionally, Jackson Anderson contributed with two hits and two RBIs, adding one run to the scoreboard.

The Pipers will travel to Decatur, Illinois on Saturday, March 8 to face Millikin at 10 a.m., and UW-Stout at 1 p.m.
