DE PERE, Wis. —The Hamline University women's volleyball team fell to Lawrence by a 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 25-13) score on day one of the St. Norbert Chick-Fil-A Classic at the Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center in De Pere, Wisconsin on Friday.
With the loss, the Pipers fall to 0-1 overall, while the Vikings improve to 1-1.

The Vikings took the first set 25-19.
Britta Lund led the Pipers with three kills, while
Cameryn Sand contributed multiple assists. Despite a strong start that included a 3-0 run, the Pipers struggled with errors, which allowed the Vikings to capitalize and eventually pull away. Lawrence's Ally Corrente was instrumental with several assists, and Alayna Geiser added three kills to secure the set.
The Pipers narrowly edged the Vikings 25-23 in the second set, capitalizing on a series of attack errors from the Vikings. They committed eight attack errors, including two by Hazel Cook, while Hamline's
Sophia Johnson contributed two key kills. Despite service errors from both teams, Hamline leveraged a balanced attack, with
Claire Kaups and
Cameryn Sand each notching crucial points to secure the set.
In the third set, the Pipers saw a competitive back-and-forth with the Vikings but ultimately fell 25-21. Hamline kept the score tight, tying it at 19 following a series of plays by
Claire Kaups and
Grace Bathurst, who both contributed key kills. Despite a strong effort, including an ace by Bathurst and multiple kills from
Sophia Johnson and
Britta Lund, the Vikings capitalized on service aces by Britta Josephson to secure the win.
The Vikings dominated the fourth set with a 25-13 win over the Pipers, highlighted by strong performances from Margaret Hahnke and Audrey Weier, who contributed multiple kills.
Grace Bathurst led the Pipers with 10 kills on 21 attempts, hitting .381, and contributed four total blocks.
Lexi Helmin also delivered a strong performance with eight kills on 18 swings, maintaining a hitting percentage of .389, and recorded two total blocks.
Mandy Dierks stood out on defense, leading with 20 digs, while
Kaitlyn Kotek facilitated the offense with 14 assists and added eight digs.
Margaret Hahnke led the Vikings with 25 kills and a .438 hitting percentage, contributing 28 points and 15 digs over four sets. Ally Corrente made a significant impact with 50 assists and maintained a .444 hitting percentage. Aria Wessel was a defensive standout, recording 25 digs, while Amanda Vlkovic added 11 digs and three service aces.
The Pipers will face Gallaudet at 10 a.m., and the tournament host Green Knights at 3 p.m.
