Pipers Drop Games To Concordia (Wis.) and Northwestern In Mankato

GAME 1

MANKATO, Minn. — Hamline lost to Concordia University Wisconsin with a final score of 10-3 in a neutral-site game on Saturday. Despite the defeat, the Pipers managed to score all three of their runs in the third inning, capitalizing on Concordia Wisconsin's single error during the contest.

Concordia Wisconsin secured a 10-3 victory over the Pipers. In the second inning, Concordia Wisconsin capitalized on errors to score four unearned runs, highlighted by DuVal's RBI triple. The score stood at 4-0 after two innings.

Hamline responded in the third inning. Elena Martinez and Josephine Cariveau both reached base, setting up Brie Bakke, who singled to drive in Martinez. Brennan Reid then delivered a two-RBI single, bringing home Cariveau and Bakke. This effort closed the gap to 4-3 after three innings.

Concordia Wisconsin extended its lead in the fourth inning. A series of singles and a key two-RBI single by N. Statz contributed to five runs, increasing Concordia Wisconsin's advantage to 9-3.

After a quiet fifth inning for both teams, Concordia Wisconsin added one more run in the sixth inning, capitalizing on an error to solidify the lead at 10-3.

Hamline's attempts to rally in the seventh inning fell short, and the final score remained 10-3 in favor of Concordia Wisconsin.

Reid contributed significantly with two hits and two RBIs, while also adding a stolen base. Cariveau posted a strong performance, registering one hit, one run, and a stolen base, alongside a walk and a hit-by-pitch. Bakke recorded a hit, scored a run, and drove in another, contributing to the offensive effort. Boelk pitched a complete game over six innings, allowing 12 hits and three earned runs.

GAME 2

Hamline fell to Northwestern (Minn.) 3-2 in a neutral site matchup on Saturday.

The Pipers (0-4) managed just two hits in the game, while Northwestern (Minn.) (1-2) capitalized on nine hits to secure the win.

Hamline faced Northwestern (Minn.) in a tense matchup. In the first inning, Hamline's Elena Martinez singled and Josephine Cariveau walked, advancing on a passed ball, but the team was unable to score. Northwestern (Minn.) quickly took the lead with Schoper scoring on a throw after a caught stealing attempt, ending the inning at 1-0.

In the fifth inning, Hamline capitalized on defensive errors by Northwestern (Minn.). Martinez reached on an error, and Cariveau followed with another error-induced reach. Both advanced on a double steal before Martinez scored on a groundout by Mikenna Johnson, tying the game at 1-1. Northwestern (Minn.) responded with Westrate doubling and later scoring on a sacrifice fly, reclaiming the lead at 2-1.

Hamline tied the game again in the sixth inning. Maddie Johnson reached on an error and advanced to third before scoring on a sacrifice fly by Brennan Reid, making it 2-2. However, in the seventh inning, Northwestern (Minn.) scored the decisive run when Schoper advanced on a wild pitch, bringing the final score to 3-2 in favor of Northwestern (Minn.).
