Swim & Dive Final Tune Up At Minnesota First Chance Meet Before MIAC Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Hamline University men's and women's swimming competed in the Minnesota First Chance Meet on Feb. 6-7 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, taking on a deep field that featured Division I and top regional programs. The divers also competed at Dodd Road Diving Invite at Carleton in Northfield, Minn. on Saturday, Feb, 7. 

On Friday, the Pipers were represented in sprint action as Tristan Popa posted a 24.83 in the men's 50 freestyle, while Evan Poeschel followed with a 27.81. Hamline also had Natalie Morrison compete in the women's 100 breaststroke, touching in 1:29.09.

Saturday brought another strong performance from Popa, who clocked a 54.33 in the men's 100 freestyle.

On the women's side, Nicole Phillips led the way with a 59.96 in the 100 freestyle, while Katarina Kocher (1:01.87) and Bella Stadheim (1:02.43) also posted solid swims in the event.

Hamline diving turned in a strong performance at the 2026 Dodd Road Invite, led by standout results from Kevin Bossou and Audrianne Freese against a competitive field featuring Carleton, UW-Eau Claire, Macalester, and St. Olaf.

On the men's side, Bossou placed third in the 1-meter (11 dives) with a score of 362.85, finishing behind a pair of UWEC divers. He followed that up with another big performance on the 3-meter board, taking second place in the 3-meter (11 dives) with a score of 405.30, only trailing Carleton's Hans Anderson.

Freese led the way for Hamline on the women's boards, earning a second-place finish in the 1-meter (1 voluntary, 5 optional) with a score of 160.30. She also competed in the 3-meter event and placed seventh with a score of 156.85.

Overall, the meets served as an important late-season opportunity for Hamline to race against elite competition and gain valuable experience heading into the MIAC championships.
