Pipers Bats Hot In First Game Against Cobbers On Senior Day

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Hamline University (5-25, 2-12) split a doubleheader against Concordia College, Moorhead (10-21, 2-15) on Sunday afternoon, securing an 8–2 victory in the first game before falling 11–3 in the second.

Hamline's offense was highlighted by a total of 12 hits, including a home run, and four stolen bases. The Pipers took the lead in the third inning when Josephine Cariveau singled to left center, bringing Reese Herrig home for a 1–0 advantage. Concordia-M'head tied the game in the fourth with a solo homer by Megan Guggisberg, but Hamline quickly responded. Brennan Reid singled and later scored on Julia Sina's two-run homer, putting Hamline ahead 3–1 by the end of the inning.

In the fifth, Hamline extended its lead as Abigail Chamernick scored on a bunt single by Elena Martinez, making it 4–1. Concordia-M'head added a run in the sixth, but Hamline surged with a four-run inning. Reese Herrig's single brought in a run, followed by Chamernick's double that scored two more. Cariveau capped the inning with another RBI single, increasing the lead to 8–2. Hamline maintained its lead through the seventh to secure the victory.

Abigail Chamernick had a standout performance with four hits, two RBIs, and two stolen bases. Julia Sina contributed significantly with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Josephine Cariveau recorded two hits and matched Chamernick with two RBIs, while Reese Herrig crossed the plate twice and added a hit.

Montana Miller pitched 3 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits, with 1 strikeout and no walks, efficiently throwing 26 strikes out of 40 pitches. This performance secured her a win, improving her record to 1-4. Natalee Boelk relieved Miller, pitching 4 innings and conceding 1 earned run on 5 hits, with 1 strikeout and 1 walk, throwing 35 strikes out of 56 pitches. Together, they effectively limited Concordia-M'head to 2 total runs.

In the second game, Hamline fell to Concordia-M'head 11–3, marking its 26th loss of the season. Despite the defeat, the Pipers tallied nine hits, including a triple, but could not overcome Concordia-M'head's 22-hit performance. Concordia-M'head took an early lead in the first inning, scoring five runs, highlighted by Kailee Falconer's double and a single from Alexa Krueger. Megan Guggisberg's triple and subsequent singles by Charlotte Bertram and Jocelyn Maki added to the tally. Hamline responded with Abigail Chamernick reaching base and scoring on a sacrifice fly by Josephine Cariveau, closing the inning at 5–1.

Concordia-M'head increased its lead with two more runs in the fourth inning, followed by two additional runs in the fifth. Hamline answered with a pair of runs in the fifth as Reese Herrig walked and scored on a triple by Elena Martinez, who was then driven in by a single from Cariveau, closing the gap to 9–3.

Concordia-M'head added two more runs in the seventh inning, while Hamline could not capitalize on its opportunities despite hits from Chamernick and Martinez. The game concluded with Concordia-M'head securing an 11–3 victory.

Chamernick contributed significantly with three hits and one stolen base. Martinez added two hits, including a triple, and drove in one run. Cariveau drove in two runs with a sacrifice fly. Montana Miller pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on eight hits. 

Allison Boynton started the game for the Pipers, pitching 2 innings and allowing 6 earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out one batter. Miller relieved Boynton, contributing 3 1/3 innings and conceding 2 earned runs on 8 hits, with 34 of her 51 pitches going for strikes. Natalee Boelk closed the pitching efforts, throwing 1 2/3 innings and giving up 3 earned runs, with 2 walks and 4 hits allowed.
