In his fifth season as head baseball coach,
Jim Weyandt is seeking his fifth consecutive winning season in 2017. In 2016, the Pipers finished with a 28-15 record which was good for the second-most wins in program history and the program’s fifth appearance in the MIAC playoffs. The Pipers also tied the program record for consecutive winning seasons with four, and Weyandt was named the MIAC Coach of the Year.
Through his first four years as head coach, Weyandt has coached five All-Midwest Region selections, eight All-MIAC selections, three All-MIAC Defensive Team selections, and seven All-MIAC Academic Team selections. In addition, Weyandt had one player sign a professional contract following his college career when
C Mark Radmacher signed with the St. Paul Saints after the 2013 season.
Prior to taking over the program, Weyandt was an assistant coach for nine seasons. During that time, his duties included Infield Coach, First-Base Coach, and Director of Baseball Operations. Also, during that span, Hamline won their first MIAC Tournament championship and earned its first trip the NCAA tournament. With Weyandt overseeing the Pipers’ defense, Hamline has finished in the top two of the MIAC in fielding percentage in three of the last six seasons, and in the NCAA top 25 twice
Outside of Hamline, Weyandt has worked with former Major League Baseball players at Dan Gladden Baseball Camp as well as with Next Level Baseball Training.
As a player, Weyandt earned four varsity letters at Hamline while playing four different positions. Weyandt graduated from Hamline University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in social studies. He currently resides in Woodbury with his wife Nikki and son J.R.
