John Engen

    Assistant Women's Soccer Coach
John Engen joined the Hamline women’s soccer coaching staff before the fall of 2020. Engen’s main duties include assisting head coach Emily Cripe with training, games, recruiting, and scouting.
 
During his prep career, Engen played for Park High School, captaining the team for two seasons. He earned All-Conference honors twice and was once named to the All-State Honorable Mention team. Engen also played for two years within the Olympic Development Program from 1993 to 1995.
 
After graduating from Park in 1998, Engen gained his first coaching experience with Cottage Grove United in 1999. Sine then, he has also coached at Minnesota Thunder Academy, Park High School, Bloomington Jefferson High School, and currently coaches with Salvo Soccer Club.
 
Within the coaching realm, Engen has earned the Outstanding Ambassador Teams Honoring Sportsmanship (OATHS) award in 2015 and was named Coach of the Year at the Minnesota Thunder Academy in 2018.
 
Engen graduated from Winona State in 2005. He is currently a math teacher at Cottage Grove Middle School and has one daughter, Maddie.
