There has been a gradual changing of the guard in the Hamline men's basketball program. The current Piper contigent has 16 players with two years or less college experience. As a result, it is incumbent on youngsters to come forward and take charge.

Sophomore guard Quinton Garvis did just that last week as the Pipers won two of three games to improve to 2-2 on the season.

The Minneapolis, Minn. native's week got off to a good start with a career high 22 points in a 77-74 win at North Central. HU then went to Colorado Springs for a tournament. Garvis scored six in a loss to undefeated (and rated No. 3 in the country) Whitworth. The next day, he unleashed 14 in a win over Howard Payne.

Garvis, who ranks second on the Pipers with a 11.5 points per game average, now turns his attention to conference combat with the MIAC opening game against Macalester on Wednesday, December 2 at Hutton Arena (7:00 p.m.). HU plays its final non-con game of the season Saturday, December 5 at UW-River Falls (5:00 p.m. start).
